It’s Saturday. I went out and bought a new calendar, you know so I could strike an X through each day that I am dry. I got the cheapest one on offer, it has Orlando Bloom on the front. Although I was concerned that thinking about his acting might make me turn to drink, I think he embodies the spirit of what I am trying to do. His characters are usually quest bound; Legolas in Lord of the Rings, Will Turner in Pirates of the
Caribbean, and whilst he can’t act very well, he can be a talisman for me.

      Walking back from Gorgs’ house last night, Kif and I passed the

bars, drunk partners and groups hovered outside in the cold. We step over vomit starting to freeze to the pavement and a couple pass us; the girl propped on his shoulder, feet dragging slightly, mumbling. With the negative side in our faces I manage to persuade Kif to watch another movie with me tonight and stay in. Films are already getting boring, I’m not sure if there are enough films that hold my interest for a month. It is true you substitute one thing for another, films are like a nicotine patch. I suppose it is early days but I will need to find more and better substitutes to fill the gap.  But for now i can stick to average films. So tonight, what to watch? Pirates of the
Caribbean i think.
